bioDevice Partners is an independent consulting firm providing product-oriented analysis, design engineering, and prototyping of optical instrumentation to the biotechnology and diagnostics communities. Founded in 1999, bioDevice Partners uniquely focuses on the biotechnology and diagnostic markets. Who is bioDevice Partners?

Steven R. Auger is bioDevice's Founder and Principal Consultant. Prior to starting bioDevice, he co-founded Illumina, Inc., which develops tools for the large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function. In addition to founding the company, Mr. Auger is also an inventor of some of Illumina's core technologies.

Prior to Illumina, Mr. Auger was Senior Scientist at Genome Therapeutics Corporation (now Oscient Pharmaceuticals), where he developed innovative tools and technologies with applications in genomics and molecular biology. In this position, he was also responsible for new technology evaluation and acquisition.

Mr. Auger holds a graduate degree in Applied Physics. He has over a decade of experience developing automated optical and fluorescence-based instrumentation for which he holds several issued or pending patents. In addition, Mr. Auger has authored or contributed to a number of grants and technical publications. He has been an invited speaker at numerous scientific conferences and has been developing leading-edge technologies for the biotech community throughout his career.
